Gary Black
Executive Director
As Executive Director of the NRA, Gary leads a national organisation that provides a range of professional services to industry and represents the interests of the retail sector (Australia's largest employer) to governments, the media and the wider community.
Gary has previously held the role of Director of the NRA's Employment Law Division and has been responsible for providing specialist strategic plans to meet the needs of retail corporations. Gary has extensive experience in employee relations, having held industrial relations, advocacy and management positions with a number of Australia's leading employer organisations.
From 1982 to 1990, Gary was the Deputy General Manager of the Queensland Confederation of Industry. He was responsible developing strategies and recommendations for the organisation's governing bodies, acting as Principal Employers' Advocate and providing representation and advice for many of Queensland's major companies and associations on industrial relations and workplace strategies.
In 1990, he joined ITT Sheraton where he was responsible for negotiating and implementing an enterprise agreement, implementing quality management practices, restructuring the organisation and addressing a range of other workplace reforms.
Jed Moore
Director Corporate Affairs
As Director of Corporate Affairs, Jed represents the NRA in trading hour proceedings, Government relations and other public affairs and policy matters. Jed is responsible for implementing the NRA's marketing and business plan and coordinating marketing efforts across the association to ensure excellent service delivery for NRA members and stakeholders. Jed also manages a number of NRA platinum membership accounts and provides assistance to the Employment Law Department.
Jed was admitted as a legal practitioner in the Queensland Supreme Court and has over 10 years experience in workplace relations within employer based organisations, including the Australian Hotels Association and Housing Industry Association. Jed also holds a Bachelor of Behavioural Science with majors in Industrial Relations, Work and Health, Training and Change Facilitation.
Jed is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and sits on the board of the Hospitality Training Association.
Christine Gilbert
Director Finance and Administration
Christine is responsible for providing administration and accounting services to all divisions of the Association and the financial reporting to the Auditors and the Board.
Christine joined the Association in June 2006 and brings with her 30 years accounting and administration experience including 14 years in Senior Management roles.
With degree qualifications in Business Management and Administration and her previous Board Directorships she is dedicated to providing efficient solutions to enable positive outcomes whilst remaining altruistic to the goals of the Association.

Malcolm Macrae
Property and Project Services
Malcolm has worked in retail tenancy negotiations, business valuations and compensations, retail development issues, research into the economics and value of retail businesses.
Malcolm is a member of the State Government's Retail Shop Leases Tribunal and has been extensively involved in the development and amendment of Queensland's Retail Shop Leases legislation.
Malcolm is a Fellow of the Australian Property Institute and is a member of the Institute's Committee for developing Valuation Standards and Guidelines for Market Rental Valuations; a registered valuer; a specialist retail valuer; and an Associate member of CPA Australia.
Malcolm has been involved in the property industry in various aspects of valuation, finance, development and management for over 40 years.
Bianca Seeto
Senior Workplace Advisor, Employment Law Division
Bianca is a solicitor who joined the NRA in March 2004. Before joining the team, Bianca worked for Yum! Restaurants International at the company's Brisbane Restaurant Support Centre.
As a member of the Employment Law Team, Bianca is responsible for providing advice to members on employment law and industrial relations issues including counselling, termination matters and trading hours applications. Bianca is also involved in the drafting of workplace agreements and represents members at the Queensland and Australian Industrial Relations Commissions and Anti-Discrimination Commission.
Bianca has a Bachelor of Laws, a Bachelor of Journalism and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Queensland University of Technology.
Vanessa James-McPhee
Senior Workplace Advisor, Employment Law Division
Vanessa joined the National Retail Association in March 2003 after 10 years in the hospitality industry, including several years working in Human Resources Management for an international hotel chain. As part of her human resources portfolio Vanessa was the designated Workplace Health and Safety Officer and Workplace Rehabilitation Coordinator.
Vanessa is now a Senior Workplace Advisor and is responsible for drafting workplace agreements, policies and procedures and providing advice on all employment law and industrial relations including counselling and termination matters and discrimination issues.
By combining her human resource and employment law skills, Vanessa is also involved in undertaking payroll and human resource audits to ensure legal compliance.
Vanessa completed her Bachelor of Laws at the Queensland University of Technology with Honours in June 2005 and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law in March 2006. Vanessa was admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of Queensland in May 2006. She also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Hotel Management) with Distinction and Certificate IV in Human Resources Management.

Nick Tindley
Director, Employment Law Division
Nick's primary area of responsibility is in providing advice and representation on all employment law, industrial relations and discrimination issues.
Nick's experience allows him to provide critical information on a range of employment issues, ensuring businesses are fully aware of the impact their employment decisions will have.
His role also includes providing advocacy for clients in the Australian and Queensland Industrial Relations Commissions and in the State and Federal Discrimination and Equal Opportunity Commissions on all matters, including unfair dismissal and discrimination.
Nick has a Bachelor of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology and is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. He has had extensive experience in employment law litigation and negotiation through his work within various industrial relations organisations.
