The National Retail Institute is the training arm of National Retail Association, Australia’s leading retail employers’ association. Our trainers are retail industry people who understand our sector.
The qualification is designed for retail managers such as middle to senior management in a larger retail or wholesale outlet or for the management of a smaller, retail store or wholesale outlet.
Learners will complete core units in customer service, safe working, maintaining work areas, communication, operation of technology, stock control and minimising theft. Learners will also be able to choose from a wide range of electives in selling products, food safety, product knowledge, point of sale processes and food handling, to suit their particular interests and work context.
Our approach is very flexible. We respond to the needs of employers who we work with. A range of learning options is available to suit your needs.
The process starts with an interview to determine eligibility for recognition of prior learning. Experienced staff in a aetail environment may have retail skills which can be recognised towards a National Qualification.
For those units which need to be completed through a learning process there are several options. Most employers and learners choose our face to face training in the workplace.
This learning is supported by print resources, on-line resources and work-based projects making the learning easier, more convenient, and more importantly, more relevant to the job.
To gain a SIR20207 Certificate II in Retail, a total of 14 units of competency must be completed, comprising nine core units and five electives relevant to the business environment.
As a nationally recognised qualification, SIR20207Certificate II in Retail can be used as a stepping stone to higher qualifications such as Certificate III in Retail, Certificate IV in Retail Management, through to Diploma of Retail Management and Diploma of Management.
The investment by employer/participant will be dependant on the eligibility of each individual applicant. Some applicants may attract Federal Incentives which would cover the cost of training payable to NRI. Those trainees who do not attract state user choice funding can be enrolled on a fee-for-service basis and costs for these applicants would be discussed on a case by case basis.
