Free Training- Disaster Recovery Assistance
The National Retail Association is working in conjunction with the Queensland State Government to offer free training to disaster effected regions, flood and cyclone natural disasters.
The main purpose of this training Recovery Response Initiative is to respond to the flood / cyclone recovery operation by addressing industry's skills and labour needs, offering skills that will assist in activities directly related to the recovery operation, upskilling displaced workers affected by the disasters and mentoring small businesses through the reconstruction stage.
This training is available to eligible participants:
Eligible participants under the agreement are:

Australian citizens; or
-
permanent residents of australia living in Queensland; or
-
Queensland residents who are holders of temporary protecrtion visas; and one of the following:

Existing Workers in the Retail and Personal Services Industry

Flood affected and displaced workers in the Retail and Personal Services Industry;
This training is ideal for existing workers such as store managers, assistant managers, sales managers, merchandise managers, department managers, customer service or checkout managers, team leaders, assistant store managers, supervisors or coordinators and sales assistants.
Job seekers that are displaced staff that are no longer in employment or unable to return to their job, underployed workers requiring futher skills for increased employment opportunities.
Training can be delivered through small to large group workshops in the workplace or at central locations.
Participants can attend workshops relevant to their needs and together with their trainer work through a series of activities, discussions and applications which can be transferred into their work environment in a practical manner.
