Queensland Productivity Places Program
The National Retail Institute is the training arm of National Retail Association, Australia’s leading retail employers’ association. We offer this qualification to our clients through facilitation by our trainers who are retail industry people understanding and working in our sector. The National Retail Association training institute offer Certificate IV in Retail Management and Diploma of Retail Management to eligible existing workers within the retail sector; in many cases the cost of training can be met through various fund sources. A summary of the two retail qualifications available are outlined below. Both these qualifications are designed for retail managers such as middle to senior management in a larger retail or wholesale outlet or for the management of a smaller, retail store or wholesale outlet through to regional or area manager roles. All applicants must currently be employed in the retail industry and have sufficient relevant wholesale or have retail experience in current or previous job roles.
SIR50107- Diploma in Retail Management
Course Structure
To qualify for a Diploma of Retail Management, a total of 9 units of competency must be completed, comprising two core units and 7 electives.
Learners will complete core units in managing operations to budget and setting strategic plans. Learners will also be able to choose from a wide range of electives in finance, human resource management, marketing, public relations, product management, quality and management and leadership, to suit their particular interests and work context.
SIR40107 – Certificate IV in Retail Management
Course Structure
To qualify for Certificate IV in Retail Management, a total of 10 units of competency must be completed, comprising three core units and 7 electives relevant to the business environment.
Learners will complete core units in leading and managing people, providing safe working environment and managing store merchandising and presentation standards. Learners will also be able to choose from a wide range of electives in finance, human resource management, marketing, product management, quality and management and leadership, to suit their particular interests and work context.
How does learning happen?
Our approach is very flexible. We respond to the needs of employers that we work with. A range of learning options is available to suit your needs.
The process starts with an interview to determine eligibility for recognition of prior learning. Experienced retail managers with at least 5 years experience in a Retail Environment, have Retail SKILLS that can be recognised towards a National Qualification.
For those units that need to be completed through a learning process there are several options. Most learners choose our one day workshops.
This learning is supported by print resources, on-line resources and work-based projects making the learning easier, more convenient, and more importantly, more relevant to the job.

How are the outcomes recognised?
For each participant enrolled into this program who successfully completes all units within the relevant qualification, the NRA will issue a nationally recognised Certificate.

Price
Under a Fee for Service pricing structure, the cost for either of these qualifications is $3500 per student. There are several funding arrangements and incentive opportunities available where employees / employers are eligible. NRA may be able to assist with funded scholarship.
