The Shop Trading Hours

South Australian businesses will soon be able to enjoy sensible shop trading hours reforms which strikes the right balance for workers, small businesses and shoppers.

From 6 November, extended trading hours from 9:00am on Sundays will commence.

The Shop Trading Hours (Extension of Hours) Amendment Act 2022 was passed last week that locks in these changes, as well as other reforms around the Christmas trading period.

Under the new law, Adelaide shops can open from 9:00am on Sunday morning and close at 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Midnight trade on Black Friday will also be allowed.

Consultation is currently underway on operating until midnight, three days before Christmas.
