Alternative shipping and courier option are popping up all over the country and it seems Australia Post may be starting to pay attention.

After facing a $222 million loss in FY2015, Australia Post has begun focusing on customer experience and faster more reliable delivery services.

Earlier this year Australia Post announced they were the first major parcels and logistics company in the country to trial new technology to deliver small parcels by drones.

Managing Director and Group CEO Ahmed Fahour said, “RPA technology will continue to evolve over the coming years and while we’re not sure what role it will play in our future, we do think there are opportunities for time-critical deliveries or where there are significant distances between the road and front door.”

The company is now going back to basics and re-examining their Parcel Post delivery schedules with an evening delivery trial between the hours of 5pm and 7pm.
