hours for suburban Adelaide shops this Easter Monday

Treasurer Rob Lucas MLC has granted a Ministerial exemption under the Shop Trading Hours Act 1977 which gives non-exempt shops in the Metropolitan shopping District and Glenelg Tourist Precinct the opportunity to trade from 11am and 5pm on Easter Monday, 5 April 2021. The Exemption Notice has been published in today’s South Australian Government Gazette.

The exemption will allow greater freedom of choice but stores should not feel compelled to trade these additional hours. For those who choose to do so, all employees working during these extended hours will do so on a strictly voluntary basis.

We take this opportunity to remind retailers of the previous exemption declared by the Treasurer that permits non-exempt shops in the Adelaide CBD & suburbs to trade from 9am until 5pm on next week’s Adelaide Cup Day public holiday on Monday 8 March 2021.
