Retail is a great place to learn transferable work skills and the opportunities are endless when it comes to reputable career pathways within retail.

The Department of Employment has predicted the creation of around 13,600 new positions state-wide over the next four years in retail – almost 4,800 of those will be in the Greater Brisbane region.

The National Retail Association (NRA) can help you get started through their FREE* accredited ‘Ready for Retail’ program.

This program will provide you with the skills and knowledge to work effectively in a retail and customer service environment.

Duration: 7 weeks
Location: NRA Head Office – East Brisbane, Queensland
Cost:  FREE*
Qualification: SIR20212 Certificate II in Retail Services

The NRA Ready for Retail program includes:-

  • 4 weeks (Tuesday – Friday, 9am – 3pm) of classroom content;
  • 3 weeks of work experience placement (15 hours per week);
  • Accredited training in a simulated work environment;
  • Language, literacy, and numeracy skills support;
  • Employability skills, resume building, interview skills, and job searching assistance; and
  • Industry site visits.
