Queensland Tourism Workforce Plan

Jobs Queensland is developing a Queensland Tourism Workforce Plan aimed at ensuring Queensland has a skilled workforce ready to support a growing and thriving tourism industry.

To do this, Jobs Queensland are working with the Department of Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games, and also inviting employers and employees to have their say via regional forums and submissions.

Through a number of statewide consultations, seven common themes have been identified as workforce issues for the tourism industry. They are:

  • attraction and retention of staff
  • business capability and support
  • social barriers
  • leveraging off of existing programs and information
  • technology and digital capability
  • training and development
  • pathways to industry: school programs

Whatever your role in the tourism industry (or related industries, like retail), Jobs Queensland and the National Retail Association are keen to hear about your experience. This will help us capture regional tourism workforce issues in order to inform the Jobs Queensland workforce plan relevant to your region.

Contact the NRA Training team to have your say, or register for one of the regional forums here.
