The Lord Mayor Robert Doyle and Minister for Employment and Public Transport, Jacinta Allan successfully launched the Melbourne Retail and Hospitality Strategy Year 2 Report on 7 April.
Mr Doyle noted, “Employment in both our retail and hospitality industries is up; we gained eight per cent more hospitality outlets from 2013 to 2015 and the number of total businesses in both industries also increased by two per cent.”
Contributing 6% to Melbourne cities economy in 2015, Melbourne continues to be the fastest growing city in Australia, welcoming up to 1 million people a day.
More than 85 actions have been achieved focusing on business development and innovation; positioning and activation; business diversity and sustainability, thanks to the collective efforts and partnerships with the Victorian Government, industry and business.
