Dominique Lamb Message from the Ceo

Before I begin today’s column, it is only appropriate to begin today by stating that the NRA’s thoughts are very much with all Australians currently affected by these terrible floods. I myself have been trapped at home as floodwaters rose through the streets, and several of our team members have been in a similar position.

To all retailers operating in communities impacted by these tragic events, we certainly hope you and your loved ones are safe. Those outside the affected areas can only begin to imagine the enormous toll this disaster is having both on a personal and business level.

It feels tough to stay resilient at this time. As I write, we are waiting for the floodwaters to recede to begin the process of cleaning up and getting back to normal. If you require any assistance, please let us know, and we can point you in the right direction. We are also in talks with the state and federal governments to provide financial assistance to businesses. The Australian Red Cross currently has a fundraising appeal to help with relief and recovery.

If you are in a position where you can provide support to individuals affected by storms and flooding, please consider donating to GIVIT. This national online not-for-profit consolidates donations from retailers and sends them on to those in need. Find out more here.

Another factor to consider is the upcoming Federal Election. The NRA will be urging both sides of politics to support businesses, not only those who are impacted by this disaster but also the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

If you need support, want to provide feedback on your situation, or just need to speak to someone about what to do next, please phone us at 1800 RETAIL. We exist to support you.

Best of luck for the week ahead.
