The National Retail Association has today reaffirmed its commitment to expand its strategic policy work in Environmental Social Governance (ESG) with the appointment of Dr Geoffrey Annison as ESG Policy Consultant.
NRA members, through the work of the Modern Slavery Committee, have expanded industry focus beyond modern slavery into broader policy pillars of health, sustainability and corporate social governance.
NRA CEO Greg Griffith said helping Australian retailers navigate the emerging and complex space of ESG is a priority for the Association as it works towards meeting the needs of industry through evidence-based advocacy for balanced and viable regulatory outcomes on key issues, including modern slavery.
“We established the Modern Slavery Committee in 2021 to de-silo conversations in a non-competitive forum to establish industry-led best practice in modern slavery reporting. We have listened to industry and in 2023, we will be expanding the scope to ESG Committee.”
To this end the NRA continues to bolster its position across key health, sustainability and corporate social governance policy pillars with the appointment of Dr Geoffrey Annison as NRA Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Policy Consultant.
Dr Annison has held a number of senior roles in the food and grocery sector, most recently with the Australian Food and Grocery Council. Dr Annison will be an invaluable voice for industry to help government understand the commercial realities of supply chain partners and support industry to identify and move strategically towards best-practice.
