Emergency hardship assistanceLearn More

The Emergency Hardship Assistance Grant is available as a contribution to support people directly impacted by a disaster to who are unable to meet their immediate essential needs for food, clothing, medical supplies or temporary accommodation.
If deemed eligible, applicants may receive $180 per person up to $900 for a family of 5 or more. The grant is initially available to claim for 7 days following the activation of the grant in your area. Emergency Hardship Assistance is not income or asset tested. To be eligible, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

Essential household contents grantLearn More

If you are uninsured, or unable to claim insurance, you may be eligible for financial assistance to provide a contribution towards replacing or repairing essential household contents, such as beds, linen and whitegoods, that have been lost or damaged in a disaster.
Grants of up to $1,765 for single adults and up to $5,300 for couples/families are available. To be eligible, you must meet all of the following criteria:

If you’re uninsured, or unable to claim insurance, you may be eligible for a one-off payment as a contribution towards repairs to your home to make it secure and safe.
Grants of up to $10,995 for single adults and up to $14,685 for couples/families are available. To be eligible you must meet all these criteria:
The grant is not available for repairs to investment properties, such as holiday houses or rental properties, or assets such as caravans and boats that are not used as primary places of residence or for pre-existing damage prior to the event. |
Essential services safety and reconnection grantLearn More

If you’re uninsured, or unable to claim insurance, you may be eligible for a grant to help you reconnect essential services that were damaged by a disaster.
There are 2 parts to the grant:

Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) |
DRFA low interest loans as well as freight subsidies for eligible primary producers are available in 17 LGAs: Brisbane, Fraser Coast, Gold Coast, Gympie, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Logan, Moreton Bay, Noosa, North Burnett, Redland, Scenic Rim, Somerset, South Burnett, Southern Downs, Sunshine Coast, and Toowoomba.
DRFA loans for small businesses and not-for-profit organisations are available in the above LGAs as well as in Gladstone and Goondiwindi. Low interest loans under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements will provide concessional loans up to $250,000 and essential working capital loans of up to $100,000 to help kick-start the recovery of impacted primary producers, small businesses and not-for-profit organisations in Queensland, |
Regional Small Business Support Program |
The Regional Small Business Support Program has been extended to include small businesses impacted by the recent flood event in NSW and QLD for two RFCS regions, with a six month extension until 31 December 2022, as well as free and independent case managed financial counselling through the Rural Financial Counselling Service. |
Extraordinary Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants – South East Queensland Rainfall and Flooding |
The extraordinary disaster assistance recovery grant is up to $50,000 and can be used for clean-up activities, repairs including to equipment, flooring, and walls, insurance excesses, and replacing lost stock not covered by insurance. |
Disaster Assistance Loan – for directly impacted businesses |
Disaster Assistance Loans offer up to $250,000 can be used to repair or replace damaged plant, equipment, or buildings, replace stock or meet carry on costs including rents or rates |
Disaster Assistance Loan – for indirectly impacted businesses |
Disaster Assistance (Essential Working Capital) offer up to $100,000 can be used to pay staff, creditors, rent or rates and purchase goods that are essential for your business such as fuel. |
BizRebuild |
BizRebuild is a business-led initiative, developed by the Business Council of Australia, to provide practical and on the ground assistance to small and local businesses left devastated by the bushfires and floods. They can work with affected businesses using local resources to provide help through initiatives such as: drawing up business recovery plans, helping find jobs for displaced workers, access to mental health support services, help filling out forms and more. |
