Victorian Government announces worker mental health assistance program

On 11 April 2017, the Andrews Victorian government unveiled its new program to assist employers in managing mental health in the workplace, WorkHealth.

Launched jointly by Minister for Finance Robin Scott and Minister for Mental Health Martin Foley, WorkHealth includes an online platform for employers to access support and advice on mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

The five-year WorkHealth program will be funded and managed by WorkSafe Victoria, with assistance from the Department of Health and Human Services. The online portal is set to go live in early 2018; you can register your interest in the program by visiting www.workhealth.vic.gov.au.

With mental health being an increasingly significant issue, any employer concerned about their policies and practices in the management of mental health can contact the National Retail Association Hotline and speak to one of our Workplace Advisors on 1800 RETAIL (1800 738 245).
