What to pay staff in 2021 wage summaries now available

Last week, the Fair Work Commission handed down its decision in the 2020/2021 Annual Wage Review. The minimum base wage payable under Modern Awards will increase by 2.5%. what to pay staff

New wage summaries incorporating the 2.5% increase are now available on the NRA’s Member Portal for the following modern awards:

  • General Retail Industry Award 2010
  • Fast Food Industry Award 2010
  • Clerks—Private Sector Award 2020
  • Hair and Beauty Industry Award 2010
  • Restaurant Industry Award 2020
  • Storage Services & Wholesale Award 2020
  • National Training Wage

 

Member Access to Wage Summaries

 

In a continued recognition of the unprecedented times brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fair Work Commission again determined to stagger increases to minimum wages across Modern Awards, with some Awards increasing from 1 July 2021, some on 1 September 2021, and some on 1 November 2021.

 

Minimum wages in most Modern Awards will increase from 1 July 2021, including:

  • Clerks – Private Sector Award 2020
  • Fast Food Industry Award 2010
  • Storage Services and Wholesale Award 2020
  • National Minimum Wage
  • National Training Wage (Miscellaneous Award 2020)

Increasing from 1 September 2021:

  • General Retail Industry Award 2020

Increasing from 1 November 2021:

  • Hair and Beauty Industry Award 2010
  • Restaurant Industry Award 2020

 

Importantly, final determinations have not yet been published in respect of allowances in modern awards. This process is subject to economic indexing based on quarterly data. Updated wage summaries will be published to reflect any changes to allowances in due course.
